Open well systems in my childhood days

In my childhood days,  there were many open wells existing in our village and its surrounding areas. One who dig the well for the public is considered as a very great person. People were taught by elders to dig the wells to mitigate the gravity of their sins.

Also, these open wells were acted as buffers. When it rains continuously for week or more ( now we can't expect) , the rain water slowly percolated in to the soil and finally reaching to the wells.

Over a period of time when open wells are filled with full of water , the same waters are used to be released in the form of acquifiers. ( locally called JALALU)
I have also seen the Jalalu in Nirmal during 2006and Rebbana in  1999.

Due to decrease in the quantity of rain waters, people started digging bore wells.
The rain water usage by filling in their buckets and vessels had become scarse.

Above two activities had exploited the ground waters.

The worsened situation influenced the people to abandon the open wells. Over a period of time,  People started dumping the waste in to open wells. This has further worsened the status of public open wells.

I have received not less than 5 requests to close the public open wells and fill it up with soil. However, I did not agreed for the proposals.

However, In my tenure Nirmal municipality has gone for desiltation of wells and chlorinated even the private wells.

The closure of wells has caused a lot of difficulties in many areas are as following;

1. The ground water table even reached to 300 feets. It is much higher in rain shadow areas.
2. The river Godavari , which flowed in the month o f may , where we used to swim is dried up in the month of November in 2015.
3. We can find the floods and find inundation of areas in urban agglomerations.

Hence, open wells are necessary for the water conservation. We have to act in that direction.

Operational problems of swatch toilets construction

. 1. People don't know the importance of construction of toilets tbat it upkeeps their health by avoiding the human excreta in to the food chain. Hence, extensive IEC activities have to be taken up for sensitize people for construction of toilets . GoI have also sanctioned grants for this purpose.

 2. A few Administrative officials and public representatives take interest in construction of the toilets. Ironically, a few people hinder the construction process. Where ever public is got involved, construction use to be expedited.

 3. A few envineers feels that toilets construction is not their duty. Wherever technical staff have shown interest and worked collectively, construction was expedited.

 4. Lack of co-ordination among the staff and between staff and public representatives is the reason for delay in construction.

 5. The Self Help Groups, Resident Welfare Associations, Non- Governmental Organizations , Bankers are not involved in the construction process at various levels for mobilising people and providing advances .

 6. Many people thinks that all the amount required for construction has to be arranged by Government, even though they are not that poor. In such expected situations, it is very difficult to convince the probable benificiaries. "The number of cell phones are more than toilets " situation reveals the lack of interest of benificiaries for not constructing the toilets.

 7. Some times the total benificiaries to an extent of 100% is not identified in the survey. It would be a hurdle in achieving the Open Defecation Free town.

 8. A few people makes the wrongful applications for construction of toilets, even if they have toilets. This type of attitude demoralise the staff.

 9. The sanctions proceedings do not handed over in a locality to the tune of 100%. This delays the construction, as some people and public representatives hinder the construction.

 10. Even after issuing the proceedings, the markouts are delayed or construction is left at the mercy of the benificiaries. At a later stage, many objections are raised on way of construction.

 11. Availability of masons for the construction of toilets are not available, making it difficult. Some municipalities have mobilized the masons and a few have impart the training to tide over the situations.

 12. The geo-tagging is a new concept. Staff is unable to do it. Training is required. Adequate number of smart phones, smart people are required to do the things properly.

 13. Computerisation of applications and payments are required. It requires a huge number of computer operators are required.

 14. Immediate payments after completion of different levels is the most required thing for expediting the construction of toilets. But, wherever corruption prevails, payments are delayed, diluting the principle mission of swatch Bharath.
 15. Some people convert the toilets into the bathrooms, nullifying the core motto of Swatch Bharat.
16.After 100% completion of toilets, staff don't concentrate on use of it and don't concentrate to declare particular locality or ward as open defecation free. If it is the ultimate goal, the objectives of Swatch Bharat mission is achieved.

17. Space is also constraint  in slum localities to take up toilets. Community toilets or Group toilets are solution for mitigating the problem.

18. Some officers are reluctant to make a few changes to the design,  though it is allowed by the Government of India.

COW- Yet another mist

In Post liberalisation period  (after 1991), Our country tried to increase the exports to increase its foreign reserves. In order to meet the situation,  she have exported the frogs. This has earned her around 17 Cr Rupees as foriegn exchange.

Subsequently,  it has decreased the frogs population, badly disturbing the food chain. This action has increased the mosquitoes population. Since the we  spent more than 3 Lakh Crore Rupees on mosquitoes prevention and cure activities.

In the recent past, Our country is eying on the meet exports. The largely targeted animal is cow. This is another biggest mistake. Cow has been protecting us in following ways:

1. Cow releases oxygen by inhaling oxygen.
2. Cow products such as ghee , urine and dung releases the oxygen in huge quantities.
3. Cow milk, ghee and urine cures many diseases.
4. The presence of cow itself cures many diseases.
5. The cow dung upkeeps the soil fertility by producing earth worms naturally.
6. Cow absorbs the solar insolalation and radiation and protects the human beings.

The cow doesn't show any disparity on the basis of caste , region and religion. She protects the whole India. The abnormal slaughtering of cow leads to unhealthy India. It is time to awaken. We shouldn't commit yet another mistake.

Hence, i request to save cow to save ourselves.oh ey

Simple Dengue preventive measures

In view of the Largescale dengue cases in Delhi and other places, i am here with submitting the proven measures to be followed by people to avoid dengue fever: 1. Addasaram (Adathoda Vasika) is a wonderful Ayurvedic plant that fights the mosquito borne diseases. It has also capacity to control mosquitoes. It can be easily propogatable. It is introduced to me by Dr.Suresh Jakotia, an Ayurvedic doctor. The multiple advantages of Addasaram plant are as follows: 1.Addasaram leaves act as a repellant. When the Addasaram plants in large number is planted in the backyard park of Khammam municipal Corporation, not even a single mosquito is existing in office premises. Simultaneous , about 1, 50, 000 stumps of Addasaram was distributed incity of khammam.(stumps can be regenarated as plant, as in case of Rose). On growing, It gave very good results of decreasing mosquitoes. A.Addasaram leaves also acts as Larvicide.Whenthe leaves are crushed and left In to the stagnant waters in right proportion, it kills the mosquitoe larvas.it was tested in suryapet. In Khammam , it was tested in presence of District Malaria officer sri.Rambabu. B.Addasaram leaves can also be used as preventive. Homeo preventive medicine consists of Addasaram leaves only.In ayurveda, it is told that on administering the addasaram leaves for 3 to 5 days, It can act as curative. (Take expert opinion for quantity , time and period of administering). C. it can also act as a Curative also.Chicungunya pains does not cure even after it is cured.I had seen, one person suffering with pains administering Addasaram boiled water(the aaddasaram leaf shall put in water and boiled and leaf shall be takenout), it subsidised the pains. It gave the quikest results, I had ever seen. D.it has water purifying capacity. E.It can strengthen the Lungs of people on administering. Other mosquito repellant causes damages to Lungs. Where as Addasaram prevents and kills the mosquitoes and strenthens the body systems including lungs. Khammam municipal Corporation also distributed 10000 each addasaram stumps to Vijayawada, , kothagudem and Badrachalam towns. There is also plan to distribute 100000 stumps to tribal areas of Badrachalam division. 2. In the similar situation of dengue cases at khammam, a preventive homeo medicines by name " Arsenic Alba" was distributed to every house. 3. Some people suggest that papaya leaf juice cures the Dengue and it is available in tablet form also. 4. Dry day , which means evacuation of water from all vessels, on Friday was followed scrupulously. 5. Gambusia fish and frogs were administered in all the large scale stagnant waters. 6. Kerosene was administered in pot holes. 7. Aedis egypty usually grows in fresh water. Hence, water in coolers has to be evacuated. During my visit to Dengue affected houses, many of them had forgotten to evacuate the water in the coolers after their use in summer. 8. The tender coconuts has to be cut into two pieces horizontally after consuming coconut water.Government should take action to establish tender coconuts crushing machines. Please share this article to the known people of Delhi, so as to be confident in difficult times. Save farmers

I suggest the following measures for protecting the farmers :
1. The expenditure cutting measures like natural farming , organic farming should be adopted by farmers.
2. There should be insurance for all the crops. In case of failure of crop also, farmer would not be shocked.
3. Programmes like NREGS should be used for farming development and agricultural operations.
4. Rich persons should help farmers and provide  input costs and buy the farm out put at market rate.So that middle men would be eliminated and all the profit would be reaped by farmer.
5. Marketing and storage fecilities to farmers should be increased. So that farmers can reap the benefits.
6. Farmers should purchase the required materials in bulk from the companies at negotiated prices. For this, Co-operative farming should be encouraged by the Government.
7. Farmers should prepare their own seeds and seedlings to decrease the input costs.
 8. They should also adopt alternate crops to ensure soil health.
9. Farmers should also get additional income from allied sectors such as Animal Husbendry, fishing, teak plantation,  herbal plantation,  kitchen gardens, breeding of earth worms, etc.
All the above measures are related to farming. There are  other requirements of timely rains , water fecilities ,  increased water table, technological connectivity and transportation .

In this regard, the following measures are required.
1. Large scale tree plantation and environment Protection measures should be taken up by the Government to ensure the timely rains.
2. Water Conservation measures like protection and Rejuvenation of tanks and lakes should be taken up. Checkdams should be constructed to ensure increased water table.
3. Usufruct plantation should be taken up in the Government lands to provide the additional income to farmers.
4. All the urban fecilities such as internet, telephone connectivity, transport fecilities, health and education fecilities,   roads, drains should be provided in the rural areas, as envisaged by Abdul Kalam. These gives the increased negotiating power to the farmers.
The social maladies like illicit liquor,  dowery, etc. are also reason for the increased suicides of farmers.

Sustaining the saplings

Sustaining the saplings is difficult task than planting. But, there are prescribed ways to sustain them. It starts at the stage of selection of site and sapling as follows :

 1. The plant should be healthy and hale for the sustainability. The cut plants and unsuitable plants to soil won't sustain.

2. The site of plantation of saplings should be dig properly till the original soil appears. Soil with rocks, bricks , debris and plastics doesn't ensure the sustainability of saplings.

 3. The pit of plant should be big ( padhu in telugu ) allows water harvesting . This method allows the moisture for more days, ensuring sustainability of sapling.

4. While planting, the soil should be mixed with red and black soils. It ensures the nutritional equilibrium. Vermi compost should be added to ensure moisture content.

5. After filling the soil in the pit, it should be tighten with legs. It ensures the sustainability.

 6. Watering should be ensured regularly till the saplings get the new leaf.

7. Where water is not adequately available, drought resistant saplings should be selected for ensuring sustainability.

8.The saplings should be planned in the area where protection and guarding fecilities are available like compound walls, tree guards, etc.

9. Where protection is not available, the saplings not grazed by animals should be planted.

10. The plantation of saplings should be planned during the rainy season. Rainy season ensures the sustainability naturally.

 11. Tall plants shall be planned for the avenue plantation.

 12. Care should be taken to fall of sun rays on the plants. Saplings planted under the big trees and shadow areas generally won't sustain.

Role of Ayurved in Making of Golden Telangana

Dr Suresh Jakotia has written this article of Role of Ayurved in Making of Golden Telangana.I have added a few points. Enjoy reading.

Though there are teething problems for starters Our History and Culture will guide and give us enough strength to making of Golden Telangana like simple remedies can cure chronic disease.

Development is not only Financial but also the Happiness Index of the society.Which can be easily achieved throgh the dictum- Sarve bhavantu sukhinah.Sarve santu niramaya. Sarve bhadrani pashyantu.Ma kaschid dukha bhag bhavet.  A historical story of Samudra Manthan is known to all where Devas and Asuras struggle to get the Amrutha of Immortality, but while doing so they had to face the Haalahal followed by Seventeen other Ratnas like Lakshmi,Rambha,Varuni,Kamadhenu,Airavata,Uchasrava,Kaustubha,Kalpa vruksha,Bow,Chandra,Shankha,Dhanvantari and Amruta lastly.

In the same the present scenario of the problems faced by the world is going beyond the control of human civilization and is very threatning. At this juncture we can use the knowledge of Ayurved and other allied traditional knowledge systems to overcome this disaster to become sustainable and for the well being of our society.

Harithaharam, flagship programme of the telangana can be used to increase the number of herbal plants in each households . Herbal parks can be established in all urban areas. This will bring wellness among the people of the telangana. Herbal plants can be also used for creating the livelihoods among the rural poor. All the hills and fallow lands can be afforestated with herbal plants and processing should be taught to the poor people. Sowing/ plantation of saplings, Protection of plants and watering of them can be taken up under MGNREGS or SERP schemes.

The mosquitoes borne diseases can be controlled easily by the propogation of Addasaram plantation, especially in tribal areas. The Infant Mortality Ratio and Maternal mortality Ratio can be decreased by using the plants of shatavari and Ashwagandha. On rearing of the herbal plants on large scale , we can make telangana capital of herbal plants.

We bring your kind attention towards the "Pot Economics"-The Kumbha Artha Shastra where without any financial burdens the economy rolls on,like if the society starts using Earthen pots for daily use the Potter starts removing the silt from lakes to make pots, by doing so water is stored in lakes.Which in turn restores the Water table of villages, fields get water, animals get fodder, people get ample work and occupation, women get easy access to water, fisherman gets fish, farmer gets enough water for crop ,nature enjoys and thus the whole vilage is benefitted similarily if Ayurved and other Traditional Knowledge systems are encouraged the Socity will prosper without extra burden

Dr Suresh Jakotia: Ayurved and Agriculture What role Ayurved can play in Agriculture ? Ayurved has a branch Vrukshayurved which deals with health of Plants. Ayurved says "Sarva roga hari kshudha".A good appetite of food relieves all diseases. Hence food is the pillar of good health. At present due to proportionate increase of food production to population use of Lots of chemical fertilizers and pesticides are the main culprits of causing incurable diseases like Cancer etc .

Hence now every one is reverting back to traditional agriculture methods of organic cultivation.  Ayurved says "Pprakrutim abhikshanam smaret. "-Remember nature always. Cow based agriculture is gaining ground.Panchgavya with many herbs like Neem,Nirgundi,Capsicum,Sitaphal,Kanuga,Vacha,Banti,Ganneru,Dhatura,Tobacco,Papaya, etc are being used with dramatic results .This has to be propagated at grass root levels to increase health of produce and humans ultimately. Many Patents have been registered by us for Gomutra based bio enhancers in soil fertility ,pesticide effects of neem etc.

Organic Farmers can also reap the benefit of additional income through weeds which have medicinal values.  Dr Suresh Jakotia: Come Let us all join hands and start eating millets for our health and thus be a part in conserving nature for the next generation.

Dr Suresh Jakotia: Food Industry Ayurved says Foods which are locally available should be eaten for good health "Yasya desha prasutasya tachan tad aaharam hitam" Telangana food is basically Millet based.Millets like Jowar ,Bajra,Sama rice,Arika rice,Korra or fox tail millet ,Tydalu or Ragi,Variga rice, etc were once the staple food of ours . We now think eating Rice or paddy as sophistcated or posh lifestyle habit, but Scientific Research is proving that eating white polished rice is the culprit of many Life Style diseases like Diabetes,Hypertension orBP, Arthritis,Deficieny in multilevels of Micro nutrients.  Moreover our Millets are rainfed and help our farmers to prosper as they need less fertilizers etc and have more nutriton values.

where as Rice cultivation is exploiting our water resources and its consumption made Our City Hyderabad The Diabetic Capital of India for which we should take care about our future generations. We can control the diabetes with the plants of Amla, tippa teega and Ranapala, etc. Water Coservation Ayurved says "Paaniyam Praninam Pranam! Vishwameva cha Tanmaya".

Water is the life force without which neither healthy nor unhealthy survives. Rainwater is the purest form of water. This will solve the water problem of Telangana if we all start harvesting and conserving rain water for our selves and Mother Earth. In the conservation of the tanks under Mission Kakatiya , ayurvedic plants can be used. Catchment area plantation increases the rains. The water evaporation of the water of tanks can be decreased by planting the Ayurvedic plants such as Arjuna, neem and pipal. These plants also controls the siltation of tanks.
